Their words become little more than ‘memoryless repetition’65 of dogma designed for ex radicals. In his autobiography, Norman Podhoretz asked: ‘Where then does radicalism now live? … In self-hatred and self-contempt. 67 Chronicles of absolute disillusionment tend, unfortunately, to reflect absolute intellectual decay. 68 Horowitz has been particularly adept at such self-advertisement.
