Later, his colleagues at the British Psychoanalytical Society saw him as a “pessimist”. According to Frank Philips (1982), Virginia Bicudo (1996) and other sources, he was seen as a moron, because “he almost never spoke” at the most enthusiastic “scientific meetings”. Bion who, when his tank was knocked out, established an advanced post in a German trench with his crew and some stray infantry, and then climbed back on the roof of his tank with a Lewis gun to get better aim at an opposing machine-gun.
